"Bowen Therapy" is a primary contact therapy used to treat and/or prevent injury or disorder and/or to maintain the optimum level of health of the recipient. This is done through the physical application of a series of cross-fiber movements on the soft tissue of body, as devised by the late Thomas Ambrose Bowen of Geelong in Victoria, to achieve positive change within the tissues. Bowen can be applied to any soft tissue of the body for both acute and chronic problems. It not only assists the soft tissue to overcome problems, but due to its apparent influence on the body's energy and meridian systems, appears to have an effect on the body's organs and their functions. Bowen Therapy can effectively assist the body to regain its natural range of movement and balance. It is a catalyst for the body to start the natural healing processes. It is a dynamic, remedial bodywork technique. It is very gentle and also relaxing.
